Agile Project Management Overview

Bright Green Projects is an application to capture and prioritize requirements, build estimates, manage iterations, track issues and deliver software to your customers.

Requirements Management

No matter how agile your project, you need to capture requirements or user stories. Bright Green Projects allows you to capture requirements as high-level epics and then break them down into lower level requirements, stories or tasks.

Requirements Management and Agile User Stories

  • Export to Excel: Export the requirements to Excel for detailed requirements management reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate: Review existing comments and easily add new comments.
  • Nesting: Break requirements down into children - Epics, Stories and Tasks.
  • Tree Functions: Filters and a live search to quickly find data.
  • Actions: Define dependencies, request estimates and add comments.

Kanban ローマ字

Meaning "visual board" in Japanese, Kanban was a card system used by Toyota in the 50's to improve their processes. Inspired by Kanban, Requirements and Issues are referred to as "cards" and are placed on the wall when they are assigned an Iteration.

The wall makes it clear who is doing what and the different columns show the status, it is simply a matter of dragging into the next column when you are done. For best team collaboration, have the wall up on a large LCD screen in your project room.

  • Drag and Drop: Move cards into different columns as you complete work.
  • Switch Iterations: Use the filters to switch between iterations.
  • Actions: Add comments, dependencies and request estimates from the team.
  • Comments: View existing comments.
  • Users: Filter users to see cards just assigned to you.

Burn Down Charts

The purpose of the burndown chart is to give your team a visual representation of the amount of work left to complete in each iteration. As the team "burns" through work, the line gets closer and closer to zero.

Example of Bright Green's Burn Down Charts

  • Work to burn: The y-axis represents the estimated work in the iteration.
  • Time: The x-axis represent days in the iteration.
  • Required Velocity: The required work rate to complete as planned.
  • Actual: The actual work rate. Are we on track?

Collaborate with your Global Team

Comments are used to collaborate with your peers and the business, and are great to build a "project memory" of the conversations that lead to certain decisions.
